So no, for the time being we\u2019re no longer on a monthly schedule, and you obviously know why, as our sport,\u2014like much of life in general\u2014has gone into an extended lockdown. So no HS or collegiate track, no Olympic Trials or Olympic Games, as postponement or outright cancellation has become the name of the game.<\/p>\n

As talented as our writers are, with no hard news to generate exciting new plotlines we need more time in which to craft enough suitable material to justify your subscription cost. So, after having delayed this issue by a week we\u2019ll take a month off and\u2014in theory at least\u2014have an enjoyable May (or perhaps May\/June) product for you.<\/p>\n

At this point I hasten to note FOR EVERY MONTH WE DON\u2019T PUBLISH AN ISSUE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE EXTENDED A CORRESPONDING AMOUNT OF TIME. We do ask that you please bear with us as we work out the technical details. The extensions may not appear immediately in your subscription accounts, but we will make sure you don\u2019t miss any issues.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, the editorial department has been cyber-commuting for the better part of the last decade, so shelter-in-place strictures aren\u2019t hampering our efforts to keep at our journalistic endeavours.<\/p>\n

On the business side of things, however, our office is under a government mandate to remain closed through at least May 1. That doesn\u2019t mean that we aren\u2019t open to serve you, it just means not with normal dispatch. The easiest way to make contact is through e-mail. We can also be reached by phone, but please be aware that the protocol for doing that involves your leaving a message on our answering machine (650-948-8188) and a staff member will get back to you as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

And, of course, good old snail mail remains very much in play. We just need more time in which to process it.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re one of those fans who derives pleasure from regular visits to our website, we can assure you that we\u2019ll be continually adding material there, although once again, the lack of hard news will certainly stanch the flow. But if there are important developments, you can rest assured that we\u2019ll on top of it asap. One goodie you can look for in the next few weeks is the start of a long sequence of material brought back from our historical vaults on the career of Pre as his story unfolded in our pages.<\/p>\n
